How reviews work

In effect from 2026-08-01

We are finalising the company details on this page. Everything else here is current — if you need our registered details before they appear, just email us.

Hungarian consumer law (Fttv. 7. § (8), transposing the Omnibus Directive) requires anyone publishing consumer reviews to say whether and how they check that the reviews come from real customers. This page is that disclosure, and it is also simply how the system works.

1. Who can write a review

Only a couple who actually engaged the vendor on Latido, and only after their wedding date has passed. The right to review comes from the booking record in our database, not from having an account — there is no way to post a review of a business you did not hire.

  • The couple must have the vendor booked on their wedding, not merely have asked them for a quote.
  • Reviews open the day after the wedding and close twelve months later.
  • One review per vendor per wedding. Either partner can write or edit it; it speaks for the couple.

This is what we mean when a review is labelled as coming from a verified couple. We check the booking, not just the account.

2. We publish all of them

Every review is published, positive and negative alike, in full and immediately. We do not screen reviews before publication, we do not choose which ones to show, and there is no setting anywhere — for us or for a vendor — that hides a review for being unflattering. Selectively publishing the good ones would be an unfair commercial practice under Fttv. Annex point 35, and it is also the thing that makes review sites worthless.

3. What a vendor can and cannot do

  • A vendor can reply publicly to any review, once, free of charge. The reply appears under the review.
  • A vendor can report a review they believe breaks the rules (see below).
  • A vendor CANNOT edit, hide, delete, reorder or select the reviews shown on their profile, and cannot see a review before it is published.
  • A vendor cannot choose which of their couples are asked for a review. We ask all of them, automatically, on the same schedule.
  • We do not offer, and will not accept, payment for better review treatment. Reviews are never incentivised — nobody is given a discount, a prize entry or anything else for writing one.

4. Reporting a review — and what happens next

Anyone can notify us about a review they consider unlawful or in breach of these rules. Vendors and couples can do this from the review itself; anyone else can write to us. Please tell us which review, what specifically is wrong with it, and why. This is the notice-and-action mechanism required by Article 16 of the Digital Services Act.

Send notices to hello@latido.wedding. We confirm receipt, assess the notice, and tell you the outcome with reasons.

The review stays visible while we assess it. Reporting a review does not hide it — that would make the report button a delete button, and it is the single most abused mechanism on other review platforms.

We remove a review when it contains a factual claim that is untrue, abuse or harassment, personal data about someone, an advertisement, or content unrelated to the vendor’s work — or when a court or authority orders it. We do NOT remove a review for being negative, unfair, one-sided or wrong in the vendor’s opinion. A bad experience honestly described is exactly what this system is for.

If we do restrict a review, the couple who wrote it receives a statement of reasons explaining what we did, on what ground, and how to contest it (DSA Article 17).

5. What is shown publicly

  • The name the couple chose when writing: a first name, both first names, or initials. Never a full legal name unless they typed one, and never an email address.
  • The month and year of their wedding — not the date.
  • The star ratings and the review text.
  • The vendor’s reply, if they wrote one.

Nothing else from the wedding is ever exposed by a review: not the guest list, not the budget, not the date, not the other vendors.

6. How the score is calculated

The score is the plain average of every published review, to one decimal place, shown next to the number of reviews it is based on. We show no average at all until a vendor has three reviews, because an average of one or two says more about luck than about the business — the individual reviews are still shown.

Star ratings currently play no part in where a vendor appears in search results. If that changes we will publish it in the Partner Terms and tell every affected business at least fifteen days beforehand, as P2B Article 3(2) requires.

7. Changing or deleting your review

A couple can edit their review until the vendor replies to it, and can delete it at any time, for any reason, without asking anyone. Deleting it removes the vendor’s reply too and recalculates their score immediately. Deleting your Latido account deletes your reviews with it.

Reviews stay published for as long as the vendor is listed, unless the couple removes theirs.
